摘要
基于需求分析理论和CBI教学理论开设的ESP课程是相对于通用英语课程而言的另外一种英语课程形式,其教学内容主要涵盖学术英语和职业英语两大类,其教学目标定位于服务学生在校期间的专业学习和毕业以后的工作与发展。本科高校构建以ESP为导向的大学英语课程体系不仅是当前国家战略、社会发展和学生英语学习个性化的要求,更是2017版《大学英语教学指南》明确指出的大学英语教学改革的方向。因此,各层次本科高校应根据学校类型、人才培养目标以及学生所学专业和需求尽快确立《大学英语教学指南》框架下的大学英语教学总体目标和分级目标,精心设计具有校本特色、以EGP+ESP+IC为主要形态的大学英语课程模式,同时加快培养和引进ESP教师和ESP教材的建设工作。
ESP, based on the language teaching theories of Needs Analysis and Content-based Instruction, is one of the two most commonly taught English courses (the other one is EGP). ESP, generally classified into EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and EOP (English for Occupational Purposes), aims to help students with their academic learning in school and occupational development in future. Reform on College English curriculum oriented towards ESP meets the needs of current national strategies, social development and students’ individualized English learning. It is also the requirement made by College English Teaching Guide issued by MOE in 2017. Accordingly, colleges and universities at various levels shall formulate as quickly as possible their own College English teaching goals, including both the general goal and specific goals at different levels, in the light of school type, talent training objectives and students’ majors and their learning needs. Afterwards, they shall elaborately develop College English curriculum with their own characteristics, which shall include not only EGP but also ESP and IC. Meanwhile, the steps of training ESP teachers and compiling ESP teaching materials also shall be quickened so as to pave way for the implementation of the new College English curriculum.
