摘要 Although many people around the world have positively responded to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, there are still some who are skeptical about it. This paper runs a four-pronged analysis on this phenomenon from the dimensions of scientific principles, mentalities, cognitions and senses. The author believes that people’s opinions on the Belt and Road reflect their outlook on China, the world and the West. They are a mirror reflecting how the international community sees China and how Chinese see the world in a time of unprecedented change. In order to alleviate this skepticism and to promote the construction of the Belt and Road from confidence to conscientiousness, this paper strives to transcend the current international relations theories by integrating Chinese characteristics to set up a new, comprehensive Belt and Road Study so that people can jointly discuss, strengthen, enjoy and study the Belt and Road Initiative, and eventually bring people’s mentality to a rational perspective on it, rather than one characterized by raw emotion.
