Soliciting Articles for the Supplement to Sinchew Daily and the Identity Construction of Malaysian Chinese

《星洲日报》是马来西亚华人社会具有强大影响力的华文日报,其综合性副刊《星云》征文策划频繁,征文主要分两类:其一为节庆主题,其二为社会话题。二者以民间"小叙事"映照华社民间习俗、人伦人情等文化"小传统"及其共享价值观,并以文学"低门槛"的写作带动广泛的庶民参与,客观上起到传承与活化华族文化、建构集体记忆与身份的功能。征文亦以"日常生活审美化"书写形式将"华人性"身份的保持与华文媒体作为族裔消费品的属性有机地联结。

Sinchew Daily,a Chinese-language daily newspaper, is of enormous influence in the Malaysian Chinese society, while its comprehensive supplement Nebula frequently and actively calls for articles whose themes mainly include two types: one is about Chinese festivals, and the other is about social topics. The articles reflect the "small traditions" of Chinese culture such as folk customs and human relations and their shared values with the "small narrative" of the people, and promote the extensive participation of ordinary people through the "low threshold" writing of literature, which objectively plays the function of inheriting and activating the Chinese culture and constructing collective memory and identity. Moreover, the articles also organically link the preservation of the "Chinese human nature" with the Chinese media as an attribute of ethnic consumer goods in the form of "aestheticization of daily life".
