Wang Jide’s New Annotations of the Ancient Edition of The Romance of the West Chamber is the earliest publication that systematically and completely collates dramatic plays of the Yuan Dynasty, and the foundation and significance in its collation of The Romance of the West Chamber and other dramatic plays in the Yuan Dynasty can be seen as an introduction to the establishment of the examples and the methodological system for collating dramatic plays of the Yuan Dynasty in the Ming Dynasty. Among them, the rich and precious versions, the exemplary scientific collation and the prudence in the examination of contents all have rich philological value in the collation of The Romance of the West Chamber and even other dramatic plays of the Yuan Dynasty.
