Inheritance and Promotion of the “May 4th Spirit” by the Working Class in the Great Struggle of the New Age

五四运动是我国历史上一次彻底反帝反封建的伟大爱国革命运动。中国工人阶级投身五四运动,与先进青年知识分子在运动中共同展现并形成了“爱国、进步、民主、科学”的“五四精神”。五四精神为激励中华儿女砥砺前行和人类进步提供了强大的不竭动力。中国共产党在新时代伟大斗争中对工人阶级寄予殷切希望。工人阶级要把一百年前的五四精神赋予时代的新意蕴加以传承与弘扬,即:忠诚——爱党爱国;担当——肩负起新时代赋予的新使命;创新——投身改革开放永不停步。五四精神有了时代新意蕴,才能永远放射照耀中华民族前行的光芒。

The May 4th Movement is a great patriotic revolutionary movement against imperialism and feudalism in Chinese history. The Chinese working class joined the May 4th Movement and jointly demonstrated the May 4th spirit of “patriotism, progress, democracy and science” with advanced young intellectuals during the movement. The spirit of the May 4th Movement has provided a powerful impetus for Chinese to make progress. In the great struggle of the new era, the CPC places great hopes on the working class. The working class must inherit and carry forward the new ideas of the era given by the May 4th spirit a hundred years ago, namely: loyalty-love the party and patriotism;responsibility-to shoulder the new mission entrusted by the new era;innovation-continue to pursue reform and opening up. The spirit of May 4th has the new meaning of the times, so it can forever shine throughout Chinese nation’s progress.
