李鸿章与近代报业关系探析

Analysis of the Relationship between Li Hong-zhang and Modern Newspaper Industry

晚清遭逢“数千年未有之变局”,源自西方的商业报刊作为“变局”中涌现出的新生事物开始越来越深刻地影响着近代中国的历史进程,而以李鸿章等为代表的军政重臣媒介素养如何,则在一定程度上影响着报业的发展轨迹。李鸿章对商业报刊社会功能的认识是由肤浅而逐渐走向深入的;他在利用报纸报道辅助决策上,手段也由简单而日趋娴熟;同时他还善于笼络报纸和报人,并有意扶持和介入一些办报活动。李鸿章极高的媒介素养有助于他最终成为洋务运动最主要的倡导者和实践者。

The period of late Qing Dynasty was the biggest change in Chinese history for thousands of years, the emergence of commercial press from the western world was an important part of the biggest change, and the commercial press begun to influenced the historical process of modern China more and more. The media literacy of military and political ministers represented by Li Hong-zhang(李鸿章) and others, to a certain extent, determined the development track of the newspaper industry. Li Hong-zhang’s understanding of the social function of commercial press was from superficial to deep, he was also becoming more and more proficient in using newspapers to assist decision-making, at the same time, he was good at dealing with his relationship with the press and journalists, he was involved and helped some of the news and publishing activities. Li Hong-zhang, who played an important role in the political arena of the late Qing Dynasty, had a high media literacy, and this ultimately helped him become the most important advocate and practitioner of the Westernization Movement.
