How To Understand History and Life——Lin Gang’s Research on Modern and Contemporary Literature

坚持独立、自由的思考,对历史抱持“同情之理解”,是林岗治学的基本态度。他的中国现当代文学研究主要有三大面向:一是对“五四”新思潮的反思与再阐释;二是讨论“什么是文学”,他主张打破学科界限,强调文学与文学批评的独立性;三是对人类形而上的精神世界与人类共通基本主题的探讨,他认为只有“国民对国家深挚的情感和认同”才在国家生活中具有“本位地位”,因此学者应对历史与生活抱持“温情与敬意”。

Persisting in independent and free thinking,and having a"compassionate understanding"of history,which is the basic attitude of Lin Gang's study.His research on modern Chinese literature has three main aspects:the first is the reflection and reinterpretation of the New Ideological Trend;the second is to discuss"what is literature".He advocates breaking the boundaries of disciplines and emphasizing the independence of literature and literary criticism;the third is the discussion of the human metaphysical spiritual world and the basic theme of human beings.He believes that only"the nationals’deep feelings and recognition of the country"have a"standard status"in national life.Therefore,scholars should have a belief of"warmth and respect"to understand their history and life.
