Objective To observe and compare the effects of breastfeeding and formulated milk feeding on very low birth weight infants(VLBWI). Methods 506 VLBWI who were hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit of our hospital from July 2015 to July 2018 were selected as research objects.According to the random number table method, they were divided into the breast milk group(n=133,breastfeeding)and formulated milk group(n=373,formulated milk feeding). The gastrointestinal motility, weight gain and occurrence of complications were compared. Results The weight of infants in the breast milk group began to grow significantly earlier than the formulated milk group (P< 0.05). The weight and net weight gain of infants in the breast milk group after 10 days of intervention were significantly higher than those in the formulated milk group(P < 0.05).During the 10d feeding intervention, there were 28 cases(11.28%) of feeding intolerance and 24 cases(18.05%)of complications in the breastfeeding group, significantly lower than 71 cases(19.03%)and 101 cases(27.08%)in the formulated milk group(P < 0.05). Conclusion Breastfeeding for VLBMI is beneficial to the improvement of gastrointestinal motility and reduction of feeding intolerance and complications, and it is more conducive to growth and development of infants.
