On a work trip to the Hor Township not long after my arrival in the Purang County of Ngari, I was told that since the implementation of the law on the protection of wildlife and the policy of turning marginal farmland into grassland, wild yaks here had become more emboldened. They no longer ran away from people. Instead, they would approach people and the domestic yaks. Sometimes they would graze and play with the domestic yaks, some of them even get intimate domestic yaks, and would not leave the corral even if you try to drive them away. I did not give any thought to it initially, and just laughed it off.
