A Study on the Adaptability of Understatements to the Psychological World of Interlocutors

本文以Verschueren的顺应论(Adaptation Theory)为理论依据,分析了说话人在交际过程中如何顺应交际参与者的心理世界,包括对交际双方的情感状态、性格特征、动机和愿望的顺应。本研究旨在引导交际者认识到低调陈述作为语用策略在成功交际中的重要性以及培养低调陈述能力的必要性。

Based on Verschueren's Adaptation Theory, this paper analyses how the speaker adapts to the participants' psychological world in the process of communication, including their emotional state, personality characteristics, motivation and desire. The purpose of this study is to guide communicators to realize the importance of understatement as a pragmatic strategy in successful communication and the necessity of developing understatement ability.
