The contemporary Russian "new drama^^ is pioneering and experimental theater carried out by the new generation of Russian playwrights and directors. It has been developed from the new form of playwriting to the exploration of new theatrical art, and gives rise to the overall innovation of contemporary Russian theater. In the ideological context, the "new drama^^ strives to objectively reflect the consciousness of the contemporary generation and the ignored social reality, focuses on the identity crisis of this generation, and displays all aspects of violent communication. In the aesthetic aspect, the "new drama" has the distinctive naturalistic style with aesthetic taste, and points to the documentary, authentic and positive public position. In terms of constructing the drama system, the "new drama" has cultivated a generation of young playwrights and directors, and has established the reflective experimental group and avant-garde theatre. In all, the "new drama” exploits a fresh playground for the post-Soviet Russian theatre art, and has distinctive cultural identity with remarkable historical meaning for the artistic ideological trend.
