It is necessary to study the variability of pesticide residues in vegetable samples from field trial in order to provide technical support for the assessment of dietary intake in China and improve the assessment system in line with China’ s national conditions. The field experiments were conducted in greenhouses of vegetable bases to investigate pesticide residues in tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and celery. Statistical methods were used to evaluate pesticide residues in various vegetables. According to the principles recommended by JMPR, the Harrell-Davis method was used to calculate variation factors, and the evaluation process was validated and discussed. The relationship between variability factor and mean value of pesticide residue was expressed by the equation v=3.2×C 0.0628 mean , and the calculated value of variation factor was 3.11. This value reflected the actual risk of pesticide residues in vegetables, which was basically consistent with the international default value 3. It proved that the variability of pesticide residues in vegetables in China was not very different from that in the world.
