Foreign Inspiration and Local Happening: The Chinese Context and Significance of Medio-translatology

从学术史角度考察译介学理论的发生,进而观察其与时代文化和学术语境的关系,是理解其核心内涵和阐释潜力的一个重要维度。译介学理论之所以在20世纪末的汉语学术中生成并引起广泛而热烈的讨论,既是中外理论汇通激发的结果,是中国近代以来大量译入实践的意义被重新凸显的结果,也是多学科理论不断更新、视野不断拓展的结果。在这个意义上,译介学既是个体理论事件,也是中国翻译研究学术史的一个重要环节,从这两个不同层面观察译介学的发生可以进一步体现它的特点和针对性,显示其在汉语学术中的多学科意义。

In order to understand the main content and interpretative potential of Medio-translatology,it is necessary to trace its happening from the perspective of academic history to study its relationship between contemporary culture and academia. Mediotranslatology came into being and received heated and wide discussion in Chinese academia at the end of 20th century,as a result of the interaction between Chinese and foreign theories,the importance of a large number of translation into Chinese since modern times,and continuous renewal of multidisciplinary theory and the constant expansion of disciplinary horizons. Medio-translatology, in this sense,is both an individual theoretical event and a crucial link of the history of Chinese translation studies. An observation of Medio-translatology from both aspects will help to reveal its characteristics and pertinency,and its multidisciplinary significance in Chinese academia.
