Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tumor microenvironment (TME) includes tumor cells,tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs),tumor-associated fibroblasts (CAFs),and endothelial cells.During the occurrence and development of OSCC,tumor cells produce certain substances that affect the recruitment, differentiation and activation of TAMs and CAFs.TAMs and CAFs secrete cytokines to promote tumor cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis and other activities. The interaction between them forms a favorable TME,which plays an important role in the various stages of tumorigenesis and development. This article reviews the recent advances in the interaction of tumor cells with TAMs and CAFs and the role of CAFs in TAMs.
