A Preliminary Discussion on the Building of Landscape

风景建筑是一种特殊的建筑类型,使其成为一类的并非功能属性,而是建筑所在场所,即风景环境。对风景建筑的评判要看其对风景的贡献,好的风景建筑应当具有"风景性",能够召唤"场所精神"并"开启一个世界",使自然对象转化为人眼中的风景。因地制宜是风景建筑的创作原则,建筑通过顺应自然条件获得其形式,自然山水的独特性决定了风景建筑的独特性。

The building of landscape is a special category of building. It is not the functional attribute that makes it a category,but the place where the building is located, that is, the landscape environment. The evaluation of a building of landscape depends on its contribution to the landscape. Good building of landscape has the "landscape quality". It can commune with the Genius Loci and "open up a world"(Heidegger, 1950), transform the natural objects into a landscape in the eyes of the human being. Acting according to the specific conditions is the principle of the design of a building of landscape. The building obtains its form by adapting to the natural condition. The uniqueness of natural landscape determines the uniqueness of the building of landscape.
