Joan:This month,I’m going to talk about an old friend,tracing back to the 1990s when I was a student in New York!One of the early experiences at the Metropolitan Opera was Tian Haojiang’s appearance in Franco Zeffirelli’s Turandot as Timur.Valery:On that note,we should also pay tribute to the great Zeffirelli,who died last month.Tian,though,is still an active bass-baritone on the international stage,having performed in Tang Jianping’s Voyage to the East in Los Angeles and New York in mid-June.
