The third-line movement is a large-scale industrial construction transfer with far-reaching effects, which is aimed at preparing for war in China. The article discusses some problems in China’s industrial building design in the 1960s and 1970s.This is a key time point for the construction of the third line. The contents include the“hole”technology of“scattered holes on the mountain”,the basic treatment of collapsible loess, independent building codes and standard maps. They have made breakthroughs in local engineering technology and brought about reflections on the problems. It is a historical evidence for seeking technological self-reliance in the early stage of China’s socialist construction.
