This paper introduces the theories and practices of architectural restoration of three pre-eminent architects - Paolo Marconi, Marco Dezzi Bardeschi and Andrea Bruno in the post-Brandi era in Italy, and identifies distinctions of the three based on an analysis of cultural background. The paper argues the approaches of restoration ultimately hinges on the understanding of “authenticity”.
