Moral Enhancement and Person’s Freedom——Discussion with Liu Yushan,Ye Antao and others

刘玉山、叶岸滔等学者认为生物医学道德增强会对自由意志构成威胁。通过反思这种论点,论证了自愿道德增强与自由意志是相容的,且我们应当尊重这种个体自主权。在回应了各种质疑之后,主张以谨慎与宽容的态度来确保该技术的良性发展。

Liu Yushan,Ye Antao and some other scholars argued that biomedical moral enhancement would threaten freedom of the will. By criticizing these arguments,the paper argues that voluntary moral enhancement is compatible with freedom of the will,and we should respect the individual’s right to make his/her own choices. After responding to several other objections,we suggest taking a cautious and tolerant attitude to the technology in order to make its development beneficial.
