平等是一重要的价值诉求,它在社会发展过程中有过重要的作用。历史上,人们提出过形形色色的平等理论,给出了众多的平等分配方案,但它们大都没有充分的根据。尽管如此,对平等的追求在政治生活中留下了深刻的印记,而民主正是这种印记的明显表现。相比于其他社会,民主社会更可能实现平等,它也提供了更好的追求平等的方式。然而,随着某些平等的实现,这种价值诉求越来越面临困境,越来越丧失了推动社会发展的能力,它甚至沦为追求个人私利的借口。

Equality is an important value appeal, which has played an important role in the process of social development. Historically, people have put forward to various theories of equality and given many distribution schemes of equality, but they have no sufficient basis. Nevertheless, the pursuit of equality has left a deep impression in political life, and democracy is the obvious manifestation of this impression. Compared with other societies, democratic societies are more likely to achieve equality and provide better ways to pursue equality. However, with the realization of some equality, this value appeal is facing more and more difficulties ,losing the ability to promote social development, and even becoming an excuse to pursue personal interests.
