四川保路运动,是由资产阶级立宪派和革命派发动和领导的、四川袍哥广泛参加的反清爱国运动。一条铁路使经济利益、地方意识和国家情怀交织,将四川人空前一致地团结在一起,独立的四川意识觉醒了。在保路运动中,四川袍哥组织"众哥弟振臂一呼,四方响应",拉开了推翻清王朝统治的辛亥革命的序幕,是武昌起义的最直接导火线,也为同盟会领导四川武装大起义创造了条件。

Sichuan railway protection movement was a patriotic movement against Qing Dynasty, which was initiated and led by the bourgeois constitutionalists and revolutionaries, and was widely participated in by Sichuan Paoge groups. The railway combined economic interests, local consciousness and national feelings, and brought Sichuan people together as never before. It represented the awakening of an independent Sichuan. In the railway protection movement, Sichuan Paoge groups called upon people to attend and became the prelude to the revolution of 1911, which overthrew Qing Dynasty. It was the most direct trigger for the Wuchang uprising and created conditions for the Chinese Revolutionary League to lead the armed uprising in Sichuan.
