English Service in Window Industry and the Construction of China’s Image in The New Era

摘要 英语作为一门全球化语言,应用范围极其广泛,国内公共服务领域的窗口配以英文翻译堪称我国一大语言景观,中英双语标志的使用在北京奥运会前后尤为突出。采用双语甚至多语是国家开放和国际化的显著标志,也是构建中国形象的重要手段。因此,需从服务窗口的英译开始,通过提高文化软实力来提升中国形象。 As a globalized language, English is widely used. The window in the field of public service is accompanied by English translation, which can be regarded as a great linguistic landscape in China. The use of bilingual signs gets particularly prominent before and after the Beijing Olympic Games. Bilingualism or even multilingualism is a significant symbol of China’s openness and internationalization as well as an important means of building China’s image. Therefore, it is necessary to improve China’s image by improving cultural soft power and by starting from the English translation of the service window.
