The strategy of“20,000 plan” has opened a new er a for the key construction of higher education in China. This paper discusses how to reform the Environmental Science Specialty in local colleges and Universities under the background of " 20,000 plan" to meet the local demand for the cultivation of environmental protection technology talents. Based on the existing development, the environmental science specialty of Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences further integrates the development concept of " new subject". Through optimizing the training mode, establishing a new mechanism for training " pi" talents, strengthening practical education, strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship education and strengthening the construction of teachers, four reforms are carried out to meet the local demand for training new Environmental Protection Talents under this background.
