Objective To investigate the current situation of mental workload of operating room nurses and analyze its correlation with pschosocial resilience and emotion regulation. Methods A convenience sample of 223 operating room nurses selected from June 2018 to February 2019 were enrolled into this study, the measurement of socio-demographic,National Aeronautics and Space Administration-Task Load Index(NASA-TLX),the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC) and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire(ERQ) were used for assessing the general information, mental workload, pschosocial resilience, emotion regulation, respectively. Results The score of NASA-TLX were(61.49±12.68). NASA-TLX scores was negatively correlated with resilience(r=-0.306,P<0.01) and emotion regulation(r=-0.347,P<0.01). Psychosocial resilience and emotion regulation could predict 38.0% variance of mental workload. The Bootstrap-generated 95%CI was -0.434^-0.135(P<0.001),but did not include 0,which indicated that emotion regulation significantly mediated the relationship between resilience and mental workload. Conclusions Moderate to severity mental workload were experienced by operating room nurses. To ameliorate psychosocial resilience and emotion regulation by intervention strategies could be an effective approach to reduce the occurrence of mental workloads.
