On the Cultural Criticism of Technological Rationality in Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go

分析了当代科技的快速发展所导致的技术理性盛行且衍生出以技术逻各斯为规范的思维逻辑的现状,探索了此种情形下人类不仅屈服于高科技的外在统治,而且将技术理性内化为自身需求,自觉地配合社会规范以达到被异化目的的思想动因,认为《别让我走》传达了石黑一雄对西方发达物质文明产生的技术理性社会的文化批判。同时通过展现技术理性发展导致的克隆人受害/施害悖论,给单向度追求科技发展的思维模式敲响了警钟。

It analyzes the current situation that the rapid development of contemporary science and technology leads to the prevalence of technological rationality and the thinking logic based on technical logos. It explores the human ideological motivation in this situation which they not only succumb to the external rule of high technology, but also internalize technical rationality into their own needs, consciously cooperate with social norms to achieve the purpose of alienation. It believes that Never Let Me Go conveys Kazuo Ishiguro s cultural criticism of technical rationality of the developed material civilization in the West. At the same time, by showing the paradox of cloning human victimization/injury caused by the development of technological rationality, it has sounded the alarm for the one-dimensional thinking mode of pursuing scientific and technological development.
