Metaphor Structure and Humanistic Care of “Gravity’s Rainbow”

托马斯·品钦的《万有引力之虹》中包含着“火箭”“性”“彩虹”三个主要隐喻,是小说主题要素的重要依托,这三个隐喻背后的主体是一种相互制约、相互映衬的关系,暗示了作者对后现代社会的深刻分析和冷静思考。对小说进行结构性的分析,可以深刻的理解作者在冰冷描述背后所隐藏的人文关怀,在剖析美国社会现实的同时,也给予了人们一个审视现代社会的全新视角。

There are three major metaphors in Thomas Pynchon’s “Gravity’s Rainbow”, namely “rocket”,“sex”,and “rainbow”,which make the key supports of the theme. The main bodies behind respective metaphors have relationships of mutual restraint and mutual complement,which suggests that the author himself has deep analyses and calm thinking of the postmodern society. With the structural analysis of the novel,we can understand author’s humanistic care hidden behind his cold description. On the one hand,he analyzed the social reality of the United States;on the other hand,he gave us a brand-new perspective to observe modern society.
