WMO Addressed the UN Security Council on the Threats of Climate Change for the First Time

安理会针对气候灾害对国际和平与安全影响主题举行了公开辩论会,首次邀请了世界气象组织(WMO)就气候与极端天气等问题向安理会成员进行情况介绍。通过对安理会有关气候变化主题历次辩论会的解读分析,表明WMO的表态陈述让涉及气候变化问题的透视和解析更具科学性,是联合国其他部门难以替代的。

For the first time in its history, the World Meteorological Organization has addressed the UN Security Council on the risks to international peace and security posed by climate change and climate-related disasters. Previous UN Security Council debates on the topic of climate change are analyzed. The comparison shows that the statement of WMO made a vital contribution to the dissection and inspection of climate change issues from a scientific perspective, and the role which WMO played is irreplaceable within the UN system.
