A Study of Fuzzy Relevance in Poetry Translation from the Perspectives of Relevance Theory

诗歌文本因为其语义、意象和意境的不确定性,从而具有无限阐释的可能。为了成功再现诗歌文本中的各种诗学要素,在诗歌翻译过程中,译者需要超越诗歌这一话语架构所设定的模糊阐释空间,同时还需要考虑目标文化及其读者的可接受性。因此,在诗歌翻译的过程中,使用和遵循模糊关联的原则,可确保在翻译过程中语义、意象和意境在目标语言中的成功再现,从而实现诗歌文本的语用或交际价值。

Owing to the uncertainty of the poetry language, poems could be interpreted in many different ways. In order to represent different poetic elements in poetry texts, the translator should transcend the fuzzy interpreting space of poetic discourses and take the acceptability of the target culture and the target reader into consideration, therefore, he should follow the principle of “fuzzy relevance” while translating, so as to ensure the meaning, image and artistic conception be successfully represented in the target language. Only in this way can the pragmatic or communicative value of the poetic text be accomplished through translating.
