Headache during menstruation is a common disease to all females, and badly affects women’s daily life, work and study. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) treatment of this disease is of unique superiority. Based on clinical experience, the main etiology and pathogenesis of this disease is liver depression and blood stasis. Guided by the theory of TCM and combined with the concept of menstrual cycles in western medicine, TCM treatment sticks to liver-soothing and depression-relieving as well as blood-activating and pain-relieving as its principal treatment rules, meanwhile attaches equal importance to the change rules of Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang, treatment by different phases and treatment of both manifestation and root cause of disease.
