Objective To analyze the effect of group B streptococcus screening on pregnancy outcome and neonatal prognosis. Methods 300 pregnant women who underwent prenatal examination and underwent GBS monitoring in the hospital from January 2017 to December 2017 were selected as subjects, which were divided into the screening positive group and the screening negative group, with 150 cases in each group. Both groups of pregnant women were received intravenous antibiotics injections, and then the pregnancy outcome of pregnant women and neonatal complications were compared and analyzed to determine the specific role of group B streptococcus screening. Results The results showed that the proportion of intrauterine infection and postpartum hemorrhage in pregnant women was generally lower in the negative group, and the overall number of cases was 16 cases and 4 cases. In addition for neonatal condition, the incidence of neonatal complications in the negative group was also lower, with the number of cases compared to 10 and 3. The results demonstrated the necessity of group B streptococcus screening, and the data difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05). Conclusion GBS infection can significantly increase the incidence of infection and adverse reactions in pregnant women and newborns. Therefore, group B streptococcus screening for pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy can timely take effective treatment and intervention measures to reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions in mothers and infants.
