萨维纳用越南“国语”字母记录长流话的6个调类:平调对应第3调(33)和第5调(55 ),升调对应第1调(35 ),问调对应第2调(24),降调对应第4调(21),钝升调对应第7调(55),钝低调对应第8调(21)。他无法理解长流话的连读变调,有不少混乱,但单字调的记音非常精准。

Six tones of the Be language (Changliu or Noliu dialect) are notated by using Vietnamese Quoc NgCr (national language) Roman letters in Savina's dictionary: the Level Tone, corresponding to Tones 3 ([33]) and 5 ([55]), the Rising Tone, corresponding to Tone 1 ([35]), the Interrogative Tone, corresponding to Tone 2 ([24]), the Falling Tone, corresponding to Tone 4 ([21]), the Grave Rising, corresponding to Tone 7 ([55]), and the Grave Low Tone, corresponding to Tone 8 ([21]). The citation tones in Changliu dialect are quite accurately rendered, whereas the tonal sandhi is in a considerable mess as they are inaccessible to Savina.
