In the year 2013, Heilongjiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology conducted excavation to the Honghe Site on the right bank of the middle reach of Nenjiang River at Honghe Village in Fularji District, Qiqihar City. The excavation recovered two house foundations, eight burials and two ash pits of the Neolithic Age. The houses were both semi-subterranean structures with rectangular plan and curved corners, the postholes in which were arranged in rows;the burials were all vertical earthen shaft pit burials, and can be classified into single burials and couple burials. The artifacts unearthed from these features included pottery wares and objects made of stone, bone, horn and antler, shell and animal teeth. The Honghe Site is a typical site of the Ang’angxi Culture, the excavation of which provided important materials for further researches on the connotations of the Ang’angxi Culture and the establishment of the cultural sequence of the Neolithic Age in the Nenjiang River Valley and important evidence for the studies on the subsistence modes and sedentary settlements of the hunting-and-fishery cultures of the Neolithic Age.
