张中行先生关于中学语文教材编写的论述值得我们关注。他认为选文要好,要先今后古,先中国后外国,有的文章可以有点难度;他重视课外阅读,认为要处理好课内教材精读与课外读物博览的关系;他认为多读多写是语文学习的主要途径,语文知识只是辅助;他认为文言学习有其阶段性,阅读浅近的文言作品的要求不能放松。

He believes that we should carefully select the texts, with the special emphasis on modern texts written by authors from motherland. Some texts can be a little difficult to understand. He attaches great importance to extracurricular reading and believes that it is necessary to deal w.h the relationship between intensive reading materials and extensive extracurricular readings. He believes that more reading and more writing is the main way of Chinese language learning, and language knowledge is only an aid. He believes that the study of classical Chinese language should be divided into several stages, and the requirements for reading conspicuous works of classical Chinese language cannot be relaxed.
