NEW REPRESENTATIVE TO UN Zhang Jun, China’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), began his term in office on August 6.Zhang was born in 1960 in northeast China’s Jilin Province. Before being appointed UN ambassador, Zhang had served as assistant minister for foreign affairs since 2018.Prior to that, he was director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’s Department of Economic Affairs since 2012.
