建省办经济特区是海南发展的重大历史机遇。海南由此从国防前哨变成开放前沿,从边陲海岛变成开发热土,实现了海南开发史上最为伟大和辉煌的历史性跨越。海南建省办经济特区以来,率先全国建设生态省,保护了海南发展的“最大本钱”。从生态省建设到“生态立省”,建设国际旅游岛调整优化三次产业结构;从国际旅游岛到自由贸易区和中国特色自由贸易港,海南在新时代担当新使命,开始了新征程。其经验与启示是要做到四个坚定不移:坚定不移地坚持改革开放;坚定不移地坚持“生态立省”;坚定不移地坚持“绿色崛起”;坚定不移地坚持“以人民为中心”。

The founding of Hainan Province as a special economic zone is a major historical opportunity for Hainan’s development;thus Hainan has changed from a national defense outpost to an open front and from a frontier island to a hot land for development, thereby achieving the greatest and glorious historical leap in its history of development. Since its establishment as a provincial special economic zone, Hainan has taken the lead in building an ecological province nationwide, thus protecting the "biggest capital" for its development. From the construction of an eco-province through the establishment of an "eco-province" to the construction of the international tourism island marked by the adjustment and optimization of three industrial structures as well as from the international tourism island to the free trade zone and the free trade port with Chinese characteristics, Hainan has taken on a new mission and embarked on a new journey in the new era.
