Fostering Virtue through Education: Historical Origin, Connotative Meaning and Achieving Path

立德树人,是高校的立身之本。习近平总书记在全国高校思想政治工作会议上立足全局和战略高度,指出高校思想政治工作关系高校“培养什么样的人”,“如何培养人”以及“为谁培养人”这个根本问题,要求把立德树人作为中心环节,把思想政治工作贯穿教育教学全过程,实现全程育人、全方位育人,努力开创我国高等教育事业发展新局面。

Fostering virtue through education is the basis of running a uni ver si ty. At the national ideological and political work conference of colleges and universities, General Secretary Xi Jinping, based on the overall situation and strategic height,points out that the ideological and political work in colleges and universities relates to the basic problem of "which kind of people to be trained","how to train people" and " for whom to train people". It is required that we should take fostering virtue through education as the key link, carry out ideological and political work throughout the whole education and teaching process, then realize the whole process and all-round education and finally strive to create a new situation for the development of higher education in China.
