福泽谕吉的教育思想主要表现为:对内宏观上主张以西洋文明为目标,以实用科学为根基,倡导个人和国家的独立精神;微观上认为教育对人的开发起到十分重要的作用,主张普及教育,重视实学实用的教育和德智体和谐发展的教育。福泽谕吉引领近代日本国民摆脱了传统思想的束缚,完成了近代价值体系的转换。他强调对独立精神的培养、对体育德育的重视对我国当代教育仍具有启发作用。
