Building a fully automated terminal is a new trend in the development of the port industry. Yangshan Port Phase IV is the world’s largest intelligent terminal, and it will become the model of fully automated terminals. The cooperation between Zhenhua Heavy Industry Intelligence Group and B&R has guaranteed the success of this project. This describes the background, planning,and process objectives of the project. B&R’s advanced control technology and equipment builds a terminal automation system.This system enables automation and intelligent control of the main equipment of the bridge crane, AGV truck and other terminals.The completion and commissioning of the Yangshan Port Phase IV terminal marked a leap-forward upgrade in the operation mode and technology application of the Chinese port industry.
