Modernism and postmodernism are cultural trends that originate in the West and permeate the world. As an early translator of Western literary thoughts, Lu Xun successfully captured the essence of modernist art in his creation, and possessed a cultural reality and experience which is related to postmodernism. From the point of view of "the historical continuity of postmodernism and modernism", this paper attempts to explain the "absurdity" and "dissolution" factors in Lu Xun's novel Butian, to confirm the connection of modernism, postmodernism and Lu Xun's works, and provide a way to expand the study of Chinese modern literature.
