散文英译中的形而上质再现研究

English Reproduction of Metaphysical Qualities of Chinese Essays

为使中国文学瑰宝——散文的情质辞采被西方读者所接受,译者英译散文时,应聚焦于捕捉原作的形而上质并在译文中有效地加以再现。现以张培基散文英译作为语料进行实例分析,探讨中国散文英译中的形而上质再现问题。通过研究发现,译者恰当灵活的动态选词、词语的篇章照应、局部与整体的互为和谐关系及译语文字线性排列的时空营构过程等是英译散文的基本条件和质料,对形式意义的超越是获取原作内涵与意境的关键。译者只有与原作者产生心灵上的共鸣,真正体验、感悟、感知原作,通过艺术的创造性翻译,才能传神地再现原作的形而上质,达到散文翻译的理想境界。因此,本文具有重新审视罗曼·英伽登形而上质原创性概念的理论价值意义和散文翻译的实践意义。

In order to make the western readers readily accept the Chinese essays-gems of the Chinese literature with their profound significance, emotional feelings and elegant language features, the translator should focus on the essays' metaphysical qualities by effectively capturing them in the original and faithfully reproducing them in the target language during the course of translating. Aiming to study the English reproduction of the metaphysical qualities of the Chinese essays, we take Zhang Peiji's English versions as examples for analysis. The findings of the study are that the basic conditions and means for English rendition of the Chinese essays necessitate the translator's dynamic choice of words, the lexical cohesion in the text, the synergy between the part and the whole, and the linear space-time processing of words and phrases of the target language, etc. Freedom from the formal meaning in translation is crucial in reproducing the artistic conception and the connotation of the original. Only by perceiving, feeling and echoing the original and by artistic and creative translating can a translator vividly reproduce the metaphysical qualities of the original to attain the ideal essay translation. Based on all this, the present paper has the theoretical value of reexamining the original concepts of metaphysical qualities raised by Roman Ingarden and the practical significance of essay translating.
