With the progress of ocean observation technology and the deepening of people's perception on marine environment, ocean observation buoys are developing towards the direction of high accuracy, multi-parameters and multi-functional observation. The paper summarizes the status quo and development of marine data buoys both at home and abroad in recent years, focusing on the U.S. National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), the Data Buoy Co-operation Pane (DBCP) and the Argo buoy program. It also probes into the development direction of multi-functional buoys for maritime navigation guarantee department.
