The word Tiji (缇绩)is generally considered to refer to the clothes on the lower body. In point of fact, the second character Ji (绩)should actually be Ze (帻),meaning that Tiji (缇绩)is Tize (缇帻): the orange headscarf worn by a warrior. The other term, Tixingsheng (缇行胜),has been explained by many scholars but no consensus has yet been reached. The third word Sheng (胜)is most likely the character Teng (幐),meaning travelling bag, which when placed in the context of the Han dynasty can be conclusively connected to the orange bag people of the time would use while travelling.
