殊途同归：论朱熹与严复救世思想的儒学回归

On the Return of Salvation in Confucianism by Chu His and Yan Fu

朱熹与严复在思想起源、发展路径及求道历程方面均有诸多相似的地方。在不同历史背景下,朱熹由早年出入佛老思想,后转至回归儒学;严复由早年赴英国留学,后将目光再次回到儒学本身。也就是说,面对时局的危难朱熹与严复虽然探索不同的救世路径,但最终都得以回到儒门之中。这既说明了朱熹与严复对儒学思想的肯定,也从侧面证明了儒学思想在中华大地上的强大影响力。朱熹通过广泛建立(或修复)书院来传播儒家经典;严复一生不停地周转于各大学之间,开展讲演进而传播儒家思想。两个不同时期的人在经历种种世事磨难后,最终找到了共同的目标并持守一生,形成两位思想巨匠的殊途同归。这再次彰显了儒家理论本身的强大魅力。因此将二者放在一起进行研究比较,既有助于当代学者更为清晰了解儒学的实质与内涵,也有助于学者明晰儒学理论在中国思想发展史中的作用和地位。

There are many similarities between Chu His and Yan Fu in the origin of thoughts,development path and study of thought.Influenced by different historical backgrounds,Chu His moved from Buddhism in his early years and then return to Confucianism;Yan Fu studied in Britain and paid more attention to the West in his early years and then returned to Confucianism itself.Faced with the crisis of the current situation,Chu His and Yan Fu explored different ways of salvation,but eventually both of them returned to Confucianism.After experiencing all kinds of hardships in the world,two people in different periods have finally found common goals and adhered to them ending their lives.This not only shows Chu His and Yan Fu’s affirmation of Confucianism,but also proves the strong influence of Confucianism in China.Chu His used to spread Confucian classics by establishing(or restoring)academies extensively;Yan Fu spent his whole life to spread Confucianism and make lots of Confucian lectures.Although the two great thinkers were under different historical ways,they eventually formed two great thinkers with the same destiny.Therefore,putting them together for research and comparison will help more clearly contemporary scholars to understand the essence and connotation of Confucianism and also help scholars to understand the position of Confucianism theory in the history of Chinese ideological development.
