Coating Metaphor and Contemporary Evolution of Chinese Cities——Deliberate with Professor Chen Zhong

涂层,是由城市建设这一复杂系统产生出来的一个概念,它包含了个体、整体、历史的三重关联。涂层的三层,可以形成层层深入的隐喻。首先,个体建筑的涂层,把个体建筑与多方面的文化互动关联起来;然后,进入个体建筑与整体建筑的互动,具有了超出仅从个体建筑涂层进行思考时不曾预料的多种结果;最后,深入到建筑整体与历史的互动,个体建筑与当代中国城市演进的复杂性系统关联起来。

Coating is a concept produced by the complex system of urban construction, which contains the triple relations of individual, whole and history. The three layers of the coating can form deep metaphors. Firstly, the coating of individual architecture links individual architecture with cultural interaction in many aspects;then, the interaction between individual architecture and whole architecture has a variety of results beyond the expectation of thinking only from the coating of individual architecture;finally, to the interaction between the whole architecture and history, individual architecture and the complexity of urban evolution in China is related.
