在20世纪中国的学术史中,胡适是叱咤风云的学术大师,以其独有的自由主义思想为标志,纵横捭阖。夏鼐作为胡适的后辈学人,政治木讷却思维敏锐,以日记这个独特视角记录了胡适命运的变化,着墨不多却形象丰满。夏鼐与胡适交往的次数屈指可数,却不可思议地完成了由单纯的崇拜者到平等沟通的学者再到批判者,直至追忆人的身份转变。《夏鼐日记》所展示的胡适形象的变化进一步反映了社会与时代的变迁。

In the academic history of China in the 20th century,Hu Shi was an academic master,marked by his unique liberalism.As a young scholar compared with Hu Shi,Xia Nai is politically savvy but has a keen mind.He recorded the change of Hu Shi’s fate from the unique perspective of the diary,althrough,there is not much words but full image.There are only a handful of contacts between Xia Nai and Hu Shi,but they have incredibly completed the transition from a simple admirer to an equal communication scholar to a critic,until the identity of the reminiscing person.The changes in Hu Shi’s image displayed in Xia Nai’s Diary further reflect the changes in society and the times.
