An Outcome-based Teaching Approach for Computer Network

由于计算机网络涉及的概念抽象、协议关系错综复杂,学生在学习该课程时会感到较为困难。而以往的教学方式仅仅注重知识点的讲解,缺少形象化教学手段,忽略学生主动思考问题、分析问题的环节。综合教研组教学经验,提出了一种以工程教育为导向、形象化教学方法。该方法以培养学生的解决实际工程问题为目的,将抽象难以理解的概念结合形象化实例进行讲解。从近三年的教学效果看,该方法可以有效地提高计算机网络课程的教学效果。

Computer network involves abstract concepts and complicated protocols. It makes students feel difficult in learning computer network. However, traditional teaching approaches focuse only on knowledge imparting while lacking visualization teaching method, neglecting to build students’abilities of thinking actively and solving problems. This paper summaries the experiences of our teaching team and proposes outcome-based teaching method, which emphasize mainly on students’abilities of solving problems in practical projects. This approach utilizes simple and visual example to impart abstract and complicated concepts. Practical teaching results in the last three years show that this method can effectively enhance the teaching effects of computer network course.
