The solution of the people’s livelihood issue is related to the most concerned, direct-acting and realistic problems in benefit for the masses. Mao Tse-tung combined Marxist thought on people’s livelihood with China’s special national conditions and Chinese people’s livelihood during the great practice of the Party leading the people in revolution and construction, and actually solved the fundamental problems of people’s livelihood which were related to the survival and development of the masses at that time and then identified and summarized the thought on people’s livelihood with Chinese characteristics. The main manifestations are: adhering to the "people-centered" development as the core logic of the idea;continuously promoting the practical direction of combining Marxist thought on people’s livelihood with China’s reality;disseminating the brilliant Chinese culture and meeting the spiritual needs of the masses;strengthening the construction of the democratic political system and safeguarding such important ideas as the institutional guarantee of people’s democratic rights.
