Bourdieu for Architects offers an introduction to the theories of Pierre Bourdieu, the prominent 20th century French sociologist. From the vantage point of an architect, it aims at facilitating a familiarization of Bourdieuan studies by readers in and demonstrating the possible applicability of the said studies to the field of architecture. This paper provides, informed by relevant architectural studies, a brief recapitulation of the part of Bourdieu's intellectual legacy covered by the book, including his structuralist anthological investigations, class distinction studies and theory of cultural practice with habitus, capital and field as key conceptual tools. This might be instrumental in bringing into play Bourdieuan insights for both the specific case-oriented and general reflexive discourses in Chinese architectural studies.
