This paper briefly introduces the generation,development,properties,applications,and structure features of pillararenes.Emphases are put on three parts:synthesis and applications of new pillararenes;synthesis of new pillararenes with applications in analytical separation science;synthesis of new pillararenes with applications in medicine.Future development of pillararene is prospected in the end.
