There is a striking coincidence between Ichiro Ishiguro's works and Althusser's paper "Ideology and Ideological State Machinery". Many of Ishiguro's works confirm Althusser's insights. Based on Althusser's ideology theory, this paper analyses the characters' trauma and tragic fate in three of Ishiguro's novels from the perspectives of the "qualified" productivity, ideological inculcator and the imagined relationship expressed.
